The idea of forming a 1908 Society arose in millennium year, when 16 1908 founded golf clubs, met at Leamington Golf Club. In 2001 it was launched with 8 founder Member Clubs and now there are 26, with new 1908 clubs joining each year.
Its objective is to promote friendship between Clubs and enable members to play at each other's courses on a reciprocal basis. It is agreed that where Clubs are more than 50 miles apart, no green fee would be charged however there are a few exceptions where a reduced fee is paid.
Most Clubs accept up to 8 visitors at a time but larger parties can be arranged providing an appropriate group fee is agreed. You should contact the Club you wish to visit in advance to introduce yourself and make sure that there is availability.
For the past 18 years the Society was administered from Ladbrook Park with Roger Harris being the Secretary however that role was handed to Mr Andy Horsburgh, a Member of Worlbury Golf Club. He is currently arranging for the Society to have its own website. Once this is up and running Members of Ladbrook Park will be able to access that and arrange to play directly with the Club(s) they wish to visit. Meanwhile Roger Harris can assist if you require any information and. the Office has a list of Member Clubs and the contacts at those Clubs.
