History
No telegram from the Queen now that we are one hundred years old, but wide recognition from our golfing peers that Ladbrook has retained its fine traditions, whilst meeting the challenge of changing golfer's demands.
The club was established in 1908 by a group of enthusiastic members of Robin Hood Golf Club, on land leased from Oscar Bowen who lived at Ladbrook Hall. By 1911 there were 250 members.
In 1913, Harry Colt was invited to redesign the course and many of the features he introduced can still be seen today. From 1939-1945, much of the course was given over to agricultural use in common with many courses, but in 1951, the club secured it's future when it purchased the land from the Bowen family.
A very famous figure from the 50s and 60s had his workshop right next door to the clubhouse. Dick Penfold was the man behind the 'Penfold Ace' golf ball and developed one of the very first driving machines to test golf balls. Now restored it sits proudly on the 1st tee but in its time, it has tested its abilities against the likes of Gary Player when he visited Ladbrook. The result is unkown!
In Amateur golf, Cyril Jewsbury has been a Warwickshire stalwart through his amazing career. Bill Wilkes and Carl Suneson have their names on County Trophies (Suneson also is a European Tour winner), and in 2006, the Centenary of the Warwickshire Union, Graham Hargreaves was County Captain for a second time.

Our predecessors would be as bewildered by the modern game, as we are by their ability to play with the equipment available.
